Friday weddings…. What used to be less traditional is now fast becoming a hot norm. Gone are the days that guests dreaded the Friday wedding invitation–COVID changed the Friday wedding game for the better! With employee’s working flex/remote jobs, the ability to come on a Friday is much more logistically possible. And in fact, sometimes more preferred than a Saturday. Below are some of my favorite reasons for choosing a Friday, Michigan wedding!
1. COST SAVINGS: Many venues and vendors offer discounted rates for events held on Friday’s compared to Saturday’s. This can lead to significant savings on overall wedding expenses, including venue rental fees, catering costs, and other services. Where every penny counts, these savings can add up to thousands of dollars. You may find that vendors even throw in extras and upgrades to sweeten the deal and to fill their Friday’s.
2. AVAILABILITY: Popular wedding venues and vendors tend to book up quickly, especially during peak wedding season ( Fall and Late Spring). Opting for a Friday wedding may increase your chances of securing your desired venue and vendors since there’s typically less competition for dates compared to Saturday’s.
3. INCREASED VENDOR ATTENTION: With fewer events typically scheduled on Friday’s, vendors may be able to devote more attention to your wedding. This could result in enhanced customer service, personalized touches, and greater flexibility in accommodating your specific preferences and needs. Additionally, you’re first up for the weekend! So you get the team fresh!
4. EXTENDED WEEKEND FOR LOCAL GUESTS: For guests attending a Friday wedding, it provides the opportunity to enjoy a long weekend. They can take time off work a few hours early on Friday to celebrate with you and then have the rest of the weekend to relax or attend any post-wedding activities you may have planned.
5. FOOTBALL GAMES: To be honest, this is one of the BIGGEST reasons I personally push for Friday weddings in the fall for Michigan bridal couples, and it doesn’t just mean because of game attendance on Saturday’s. We’ve all been to that Saturday Fall wedding where half of the guys are secretly watching games (or not so secretly) at their tables or gasp… during the ceremony (yes, I JUST experienced 5 guys secretly watching football in the back row of the ceremony DURING vows..). On a more positive note, guests have the ability on a Friday to enjoy your wedding AND attend a football game. This is particularly a popular choice if you have a large alumni base who are from out of town and they can choose to attend your wedding in addition to the game. Always a win-win.
Well, there are just a few of the reason’s picking a Friday is a great option. Don’t feel like you’re sacrificing, rather looking at another great option for a wedding day. So, if you’re looking to have a 2024 wedding and Friday’s at your dream location are the only option… jump on it! Your guests will have just as great of a time as they would on Saturday.
Happy Planning,
